MORE MUSIC, ALL THE FUN AND ACTIVITY AT 2ND SATURDAYS’ JULY 13TH EVENT

Tucson, AZ, -July 3, 2013— More music than ever in Downtown Tucson for the July 13th, 2nd Saturdays event. The classic rockers the Bluerays, Johnette Napolitano of Concrete Blonde, great local bands on the KIIM/KHIT Stage and much more. There will also be street performers, food, live music, many new vendors and promenade strollers for July’s 2nd Saturdays. 2ND Saturdays fills Congress St. from Toole Ave. to Church Ave. with family friendly activities for all ages.

The outdoor KIIM/KHIT stage will showcase of a variety of music styles with Tucson’s top local bands. This month features 6:30pm-7:45pm: Leila Lopez — folk Fusion; 8pm-9:15pm: Roll Acosta “Their brand of acoustic rock has the dusty Arizona smile of an indie rocker.” 9:30pm-10:30pm: Carlos Arzate: bringing elements of Folk, Soul, Rock, Latin & Country in a captivating live show.

T.O.P. “Top of Pennington” Garage: Admission is free to hear great live classic rock by the Bluerays at the top of the Pennington Garage. Take the elevator to the rooftop for a sunset/city lights view to enjoy free live music, food and beer from Borderlands Brewery, a Tucson-based microbrewery producing quality beers in traditional Southwestern style . A portion of alcohol sales this month will go to support KXCI 91.3 FM, Tucson’s non-profit radio station. Doors open at 6pm and music is from 6:30-9:30pm

Congress St. is open to automobile traffic. You can easily visit your favorite restaurant or bar. There will be a lot to see and do on all the downtown streets.

La Placita: It’s a red, white, and blue affair as Southwest Soul Circuit celebrates the birth of our nation at 2nd Saturdays Downtown with soul. The celebration will take place in the plaza of La Placita Village on July 13th starting at 7PM. Soul Music at 2nd Saturdays Downtown welcomes Tucson’s own Crystal Stark as special guest , Soul Music Open Mic and raffle prizes.7PM – urban jazz with Mike Kuhn on sax 8PM – mix of old and neo soul with Kevin and Tanishia & friends 9PM – soul and R&B with Crystal Stark 10PM – Soul Music open mic

Historic neighborhood carriage rides will be offered by Good Shepherd Ranch. These carriage rides will introduce you to some of Tucson’s oldest neighborhoods and familiar downtown streets. The carriages can hold 4-12 people. Cost is minimal. See 2ndsaturdays.com for specifics.

THE KIDS’ AREA has a new home at the Old Pueblo Parking lot, 43 E. Congress and has many new activities for children. There will be a virtual reality simulator that gives you a choice of realities from race cars to roller coasters. Look for the jumping castles much more. The kids’ movie will be a classic episode of Wonder Woman, Staring Lynda Carter and Lyle Waggoner. The movie is FREE and starts at 7:30pm. The kids’ area is open from 6-8:30pm.

7PM Hotel Congress is teaming up with Downtown Second Saturdays to bring you this FREE concert on the plaza with Johnette Napolitano. Most known as the lead singer of 90′s alternative group, Concrete Blonde, Johnette has been a prominent force in the music scene ever since. Bring the whole family down, eat at the Cup Cafe, enjoy a refreshing beverage, and watch the sunset with Johnette Napolitano at Hotel Congress.
