Beatles Rock Band

A GIANT free Beatles “Rock Band” competition, underwritten by Bourn Partners and presented by Cinema La Placita outdoor film series and Ultimate Electronics will bring alive the vacant lot on Congress street between Scott and Stone Avenues. The game will be projected onto an 11’ x 12’ screen. Beatles Rock Band is a video game which allows players to “play along” to Beatles music using instrument-shaped game controls. The players press buttons, strum, bang and sing in time to indicators on the screen. As players operate the controls in time with the music, their score raises. The competition will begin around 7:00, when the sun sets and it is dark enough to see the game projected on the screen. There will be prizes, as yet to be determined.

Cinema La Placita Presents: Rebel Without A Cause

The classic 1955 film directed by Nicholas Ray tells the story of a rebellious teenager played by James Dean, and co-stars Sal Mineo, Natalie Wood, screening in the Bourn Lot – located on the south side of Congress Street between Scott and Stone Avenues.

Peer into the cosmos! Docents from Flandrau will host telescope viewings in the parking lot at the NE corner of Broadway and Scott, just east of the Scott Avenue Main Stage. Come early to see the sun as you have never seen it before. 5:30pm-9:30pm.

KXCI 91.3FM Community Radio is setting up their Local Music Store in front of MEB Management at 120 E. Congress, just west of Chicago Store. The station is selling CDs and vinyl from more than 50 local musicians at special prices, including many hard-to-find new and old releases. In addition, KXCI will be giving away more than 200 CD singles, EPs and full albums to people who stop by their booth, so come early!
